Roshi Joan Halifax wrote Sophie Learns to Be Brave about a young girl and her encounters with a dog who teaches her friendship, presence, loss, and bravery. Sophie and the old dog cross paths in the midst of a wild storm. A mantra helps Sophie through her fears and can help readers through theirs.

On Mandalas

Mandalas are found in several activities on the MWE website. The subject of mandalas is vast, popular, and often misunderstood. In a short video interview from 2021, Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche presents some of the profound ideas that mandalas represent, which may help educators and parents raise their own understanding of this important Buddhist principle.
