This worksheet is the first of a 9-part Buddhism Education Pack from the International Dunhuang Project—Cultural Routes of Eurasia, a collaboration between six EU partners (from the UK, Hungary, France, and Germany) and three associate partners from China. “Buddhism & The Silk Road: The Transmission of Buddhism” introduces the history of Buddhism and The Silk Road, and asks students to examine a painting for historical significance. It demonstrates the value of studying historical artefacts, as well as the spectrum of interpretations one can make when looking at the past.
