This is the Middle Way School song, sung to the tune of “My Favorite Things” and based on a verse from the Diamond Sutra, one of the most important texts from Mahayana Buddhism. Students and teachers sing this song every week, as well as on special occasions.

Bubbles and rainbows, and meteor showers

magic tricks, dew drops, fireflies at dusk hour

Illusions and dreams

clouds and lightning

All of these things are not quite what they seem

Doing no harm,

Being helpful,

Taming your mind,

Seeing all things as a fleeting display,

Buddha taught to see in this way.
