Strands

The BEA Framework is organized into four strands that correspond to the traditional three trainings in Buddhism (“trishiksha”)*—view, meditation, and conduct—plus a fourth category that addresses culture. These strands provide educators with clear pathways through Buddhist educational content while honoring both traditional Buddhist learning structures and contemporary pedagogical needs.

From the BEA Glossary:

Trishiksha: The three trainings that form the foundation of Buddhist practice: sila/ethics (or conduct), samadhi/concentration (or meditation), and prajna/wisdom (or view) , which lead to the cessation of suffering.
