Ven. Rigo Tulku Rinpoche established Palyul Choekhorling Monastic Primary School in 1968 for the Himalayan monks of India, Nepal, Bhutan and newcomers from Tibet. Since then, over one hundred monks receive food, lodging, medical treatment and material aide from Rigo Tulku Rinpoche and his monastery. Furthermore, basic Tibetan Grammar, writing, reading skills and ritual procedures along with English and monastic discourse are being taught in the school. Moreover, the construction of Mandalas, exercising ritual and mudras, learning ritual instruments (blowing trumpet, beating drums and handling cymbals) and various modern subjects like science, geography, history and economics are also available.
In the year 2004, Rinpoche and fellow teachers upgraded Palyul Choekhorling Monastic School, which is equivalent to modern day schools.
