Sergio León Candia holds a Bachelor of Education and is a Physical Education teacher from the Universidad Andrés Bello, Chile. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in Buddhist Studies from the International Buddhist College, Thailand. He studied English at Embassy CES, New York, USA, and is a certified TEFL English teacher. He had his first contact with Eastern Philosophy during his years of martial arts training. In addition to his fondness for education, philosophy and the arts, he obtained a degree in Sound Technology at the Technological University of Chile. After finishing his studies in 2008, he dedicated 5 years to travel and work around the world in different areas, such as: working in New Zealand, teaching English and being a personal trainer of functional training, in English for foreigners in Bangkok, Thailand, organizing a meditation group and Dharma study in Santiago, Chile, write columns about ecology on a website and work in the aboriginal community of Yuendumu, Northen Territory, Australia, among others. During his stay in Thailand, he went on different Buddhist meditation retreats at Wat Prayong international meditation center in Bangkok, Wat Na Papong and Wat Sunan. He directed his study and knows about Permaculture thanks to the Australian Buddhist monk Dhammadaso with whom he studies until 2013. With the intention of creating a place where the study of Dharma, the practice of healthy life and sustainable human settlements can be combined, He returned to Chile in December 2013, to be part of the steering committee of the Mongeal Mapu ecological agriculture and sustainable life project. In 2015 he obtains a Permaculture Design diploma from The Permaculture Institute of Australia with Geoff Lawton. During 2017 he returns to Thailand to finish his Master's Degree at IBC and participates in conferences in that country and in Malaysia, exposing the subject of Dharma and ecology. This work was published by the Buddhist magazine of Malaysia "Eastern Horizon" to which he still contributes to. Taught English for EnglishUC of the Catholic University of Chile and Eclass in Santiago, Chile and was Consular Assitant at the Royal Thai Embassy. Now he currently teaches Dhamma and Meditation at One Yoga Thailand where he also contributes to Buddhadasa Indapanno Archives with translating Dhamma texts into spanish.
