About
The Shedra, located within the Sangchen Pemayangtse Monastery, provides five years of primary level and nine years of college level studies. At the primary level, among others, the tradition of Lhatsun rituals, Tibetan Grammar, Basics of Buddhist Philosophy, Lhatsun’s oral instructions, Sikkim’s History and English are taught. After completing the primary school one has to go for preliminary meditation of Rigzin Sogdrup for 1 year and thereafter, to college, where deep level of Buddhist philosophy is taught by well learned Khenpos and Lopons of the Monastery itself.
The institute follows a curriculum approved by high Lamas, Khenpos, Lopens and managing committee of the Sangchen Pemayangtse Monastery. The curriculum mainly includes the study of the Lhatsun Tradition of thoughts and famous thirteen fundamental texts of Nyingma Scholasticism with Indian and Tibetan commentaries.
